Day 8 and Week 1

Week 1 Summary

Well I finished week one... and it wasn't so bad, except I was expecting to be down more than I am :(  Not even one full pound.. I actually weighed myself Saturday and then Sunday after my cheat day and then Monday morning and I weighed more Monday than I did Sunday even though I stuck to my plan on Sunday and rode my bike 6+ miles... I was down almost 4 lbs on Friday --- grr, one cheat day really screwed me up, or maybe since I rode my bike 26+ miles in the week I gained some muscle? Here is for wishful thinking... I'm also going to try to cut out my desserts at night as well, but I know if I'm crazing chocolate, it's better to have those, then some chocolate bars!

Week 1 weigh in: 157.8 lbs

Day 6 and 7 - Weekend Update

Ok, well day 6 was my cheat day... and I think I did "OK" as far as cheating because I ate all my meals at the tailgate, so I didn't eat all the bad crap PLUS extra meals... but I did consume a lot of wine and a lot beer, and a lot of chips! But my snack during the game was popcorn, so that wasn't terrible especially since it was Kettle Korn and not butter, and I did eat my fat free hotdogs, so at least I saved a little there. Today I made a big pot of my homemade minestrone soup, which I will have probably every day this week for at least one meal, it's super healthy since it's all veggies! I also rode the long way to the Loop to pick up some gloves for Boot Camp which starts tomorrow. Saturday morning we had our assessment, and my body fat % is in the obese category, which I pretty much assumed, but still is super crappy. I'm going to try to make it to Boot Camp 3x a week for the whole month, work permitting. I'm hoping to see some real results in this month, and if I do, I may consider doing it for another month or two. Although it's SOO expensive, the results will have to be pretty noticable for me to be willing to pay the price for future months.

Today's Food Consumption
Breakfast: Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Chicken Panini (omg this was sooo good, it was a first time try for me, but I will be hitting up Publix to buy some more since they are on sale this week!)

Estimated Calories Burned: 288

Tomorrow is weigh in day.. hoping I surpassed my 2 pound goal, which usually the first week of a diet I do.

Day 5 - Biking in the Rain

Well today was my first day off work since starting this diet. I drank lots of water to steer me away from snacking. I also rode my bike to get a pedicure and stop at Publix, rather then driving, so I got an extra day of exercise. Going to try to ride my bike anywhere that is within 5 miles and I don't have to pick up/drop off stuff that is too big for my little backpack (weather permitting) - Speaking of weather, of course after the pedi and Publix it was drizzling, and I looked at the weather and it said it was going to last all afternoon, so I had to ride home in the rain. It was only a light drizzle, but still irritating. At least my pedi didn't get ruined. Logged almost 5 miles with that trip. Tonight we went to a halloween party, and I didn't drink anything by water, and didn't have any snacks besides 2 potstickers which I checked the nutrition label so I could include it in my count(my friend was cooking them and had the package on the counter) This was hard because the cookies and finger foods looked so delicious, party food is by far my favorite. Now tomorrow is a cheat day, I'll try not to over do it.. I bought my fat free hotdogs for the tailgate so I'll at least save some fat/calories that way, but I'm sure the beer will more then make up for it! We also have our 8 am Boot Camp assessment tomorrow morning before we go tailgate, so this will be a good starting point after a few days of steady dieting.

Day 4 - Big Temptations

Well I survived "Birthday Day" - I only ate the fresh fruit, so proud of myself! I was going to take a picture of the spread of temptation  but I had to run to a meeting so I didn't get a chance before everyone dug in. And I rode my bike to Rissa's to see Jen on her last night before moving to Colorado instead of driving and brought my own dinner instead on eating the Stouffer's lasagna the girls were having.  I didn't drink enough water at work today but made up for it during the bike ride and while watching the movie.

Today's Food Consumption

Fresh cut up fruit (grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and pineapple)

Day 3 - Signed up for a Month of Boot Camp

Well today ended up being easier than I thought it would be since I ended up having to work late I didn't get to join Glenn at the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot (to meet up with some family that is in town from PA). Tonight I baked for "Birthday Day" for tomorrow, it smells so yummy in the house, but I resisted and didn't sample anything! Tomorrow will be the true test when it's all on a nice spread with all of my favorite snacks.. I'll just eat the fruit, I'll just eat the fruit!! (trying to psych myself up about it!!) I do love the fruit but I normally eat that PLUS a bunch of other non-healthy stuff. So tomorrow it's just the fruit, the lunch I bring and no snacking! Oh yea, and I slacked on my water intake today too, probably only around 1.5 liters, going to try to have at least another 1/2 liter before bed.

Today's Food Consumption
Breakfast: Banana
Lunch: Weight Watchers Pizza Mini's
Snack: Banana
Dinner:
Weight Watchers Pizza Mini (the package has two trays in it and since I got stuck at work late, I ate the other tray for dinner)
Snack: Small bowl of fresh cut up fruit (grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and pineapple)
Dessert: Kellog's Cinnabon Cereal Bar (btw, not quite as good as I think they'd be, and definitely not worth the 150 calories!)

Estimated Calories Consumed: 1060*
Estimated Calories Burned: 0

Days of Exercise for Week: 2

On another note, Glenn and I are scheduled for out Boot Camp Assessment at 8am on Saturday morning, before cheat day begins! Then we have unlimited sessions for a month, so I'm thinking I'm going to attempt to make it 3 times a week as long as my schedule allows it. Here is the inspiration picture of the day, from the boot camp website:

I'm not sure how long it took for her to get this way (which the site says is a 70 lb difference) but I'm no where as heavy as her before picture and I'd love to look like her after picture! Although, after our Groupon is used up, after the first month, they charge $197/month, so it's pretty pricey (I only paid $39 for the Groupon, as you can see it was a huge savings!!)

Till tomorrow... sweet dreams!!

Day 2 - so far so good...

OK, Day 2 went well, I managed to avoid the yummy looking brownies and cookies at my supplier today (even though my coworkers were teasing me by moving the tray in front of my face, grrrr! Sorry I don't want to be 300lbs like you man!) I should have done without the pasta salad as a side dish, but I only took a small "scoop" and it wasn't one w/mayo in it, and had other veggies mixed in (tomatos and peppers) so I don't THINK it was that bad... I estimated (hopefully over estimated) that it was probably around 170 calories. I did drink a decent amount of water today, I would saw at least 2 liters if not more. So I'm doing pretty good on that front as well. My tummy is growling tonight though, and I haven't eaten my 90 calorie brownie yet, so hoping that with a big glass of water will do the trick! After work, Glenn and I rode our bikes up to the Loop so I could return some shoes at DSW, it was a nice little ride (and exactly the same miles as my ride yesterday even though no where close to the same route, WEIRD!) and the weather was perfect!! So far I'm at 2 exercise sessions for the week, so I'm well on my way to hitting the minimum of 3 that I had planned, although I have plans the next two nights after work so I doubt I'll have a chance to do anything again before Friday, but luckily I'm off on Friday, so I'll make a conscious effort to do SOMETHING on Friday. What is sad though, is I can not wait for my cheat day on Saturday... it's going to be so hard not to over do it. Especially since Thursday is "Birthday Day" at work for the month of October (we have it once a month), and I'll have all goodies in front of my face all day long, and I'm going to use every ounce of will power i have to not have ANYTHING other then the fresh fruit! I did it in 2009 for 4 or more months when I lost my initial weight.. and it was tough, but I did it then, so there is NO REASON why I can't do it now. Oh yea, amd tomorrow we're meeting up with Glenn's Aunt and Uncle at Epcot after work for the food and wine festival... Guess I'll have to save some calories for dinner time since I know there will be a few countries I will want to hit up, I'll limit myself to 3 max plus no wine/drinks!

Today's Food Consumption
Breakfast: Banana
Lunch: Turkey Sandwich w/Yellow American Cheese on Wheat (w/lettuce and tomato) plus half a turkey wrap, same contents as sandwich + side of pasta salad
Snack: Banana
Dinner: Healthy Choice Mediterranean Grilled Vegetables (frozen meal)
Snack: 90 Calorie Fiber One Brownie
Dessert: Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Fudge Sundae Cone

Estimated Calories Consumed: 1350*
Estimated Calories Burned: 213

*According to the estimates the Dailyburn app gave me - Obviously the non pre-packaged meals are a lot harder to judge so I try to over estimate the portions just to be safe.

My inspiration picture of today... my favorite gal, Reese Witherspoon.. she's not too skinny, but I don't want to be stick skinny, just have a flatter stomach and this is a good look to strive for... more realistic anyways then some other celebrities bodies out there!

Day 1 - Off to a Good Start

This weight-loss initiative is off to a good start!

I forgot it was "lunch club" day (every Monday one of the four of us girls at work brings in lunch for the group) but luckily Kerry brought in a relatively healthy meal, meatloaf made with ground turkey and roasted veggies, it was pretty good considering I wasn't even sure I like meatloaf. I drank at least 2 liters of water, I think I was probably closer to 3. I also rode my bike for 20 minutes (4.22 miles) while my catfish was cooking. I would have rode longer, but I had to get back to make sure I didn't over cook my dinner, especially since Glenn wasn't home yet to keep an eye on it.

Today's Food Consumption
Breakfast: Apple
Lunch: Turkey Meatloaf and Roasted Veggies
Snack: 100 Calorie Cinnamon Crackers
Dinner: Baked Catfish
Snack: 90 Calorie Fiber One Brownie
Dessert: Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Fudge Sundae Cone

Estimated Calories Consumed: 1074*
Estimated Calories Burned: 208

*According to the estimates the Dailyburn app gave me - Obviously the non pre-packaged meals are a lot harder to judge

Tomorrow will be a little more challenging since I'm on the road for work and they always cater in lunch, it's usually sandwiches, so I'll be ok with those, it's the yummy brownies and cookies that are going to be tough - WILL POWER NEEED!!  I'll bring a banana for breakfast and eat that on the way and try to stay away from the breakfast pastries they cater in and just stick to the fresh fruit.

I will probably show my progress once a week, and since I started on a Monday, I'll use Monday as my weight check in day (which I'll do in the mornings).

Today's weigh in: 158.2 lbs (when I met Glenn I was around 138 lbs which is why my goal is 20 lbs, I want to be at LEAST as skinny as I was when I met him, when I marry him plus it would be nice for my clothes to not cut off my circulation!)
Total Lost: 0 lbs

It's Go Time!

Ok, starting tomorrow, it's time to get serious and Shred the fat before I wed!

Guidelines - lose approximately 2 lbs/week (which is reasonable, healthy, and obtainable) I know some weeks will be harder then others. The wedding is 17 weeks away, and I'm making 20 lbs my goal (with a stretch goal of 30), so as long as I can maintain the 2lbs/week I should definitely hit it!

I will allow myself 1 cheat day per week if something is going on (Tailgating for a football game, my bday, xmas, etc) However during that cheat day I will try my best to not over do it just because it's my "cheat day".

  • I will only drink alcohol on my "cheat day" for the week.
  • I will do some form of physical activity at least 3 times a week, either run or ride my bike, since I cancelled my gym membership I dont have too many options.
    • I am signing up for a boot camp for the month of November since I bought a Groupon that expires on November 4th, so Boot Camp can count as one of my work out days as well.
  • I will try to eat mostly high protein and low carbs (unless the carbs are fruits and veggies), and stick to around 1000 calories a day for the days I don't work out and will allow myself to go up to 1300 calories a day for the days I do work out.
  • I will try to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, I know it should be more but I know I only drink about 1 now, so baby steps :)
In 2009 I lost 30 lbs, I've gained about 15-20 back depending on the day. I know I can do this since I've done it before, and I know the wedding dress in my closet should be inspiration enough, but for some reason I haven't been able to stop eating bad and have had no motivation to work out, and with the wedding 4 months away and the invites going out this week (yes, we know it's crazy early), it's GO TIME! No excuses!!! Wish me luck and send on some inspiration!!
